Event Information

Every year, GENDER.ED spotlights cutting-edge academic and institutional research (including by PhD researchers), student campaigns and change projects at the University of Edinburgh in an Annual Showcase event. It will also be an opportunity to interact with the community of gender and sexualities researchers and change agents at the University of Edinburgh. The Showcase event will include a roundtable conversation and a reception.

15:15 - 16:15 Roundtable on “Solidarity and Justice in Times of Crisis”

16:15 - 17:30 Showcase and Networking Reception

Speakers

The panel will be chaired by Professor Lesley McCara, Personal Chair of Penology and Director, IASH.

Confirmed speakers include:

Dr James Bell, Associate Director GENDER.ED  and Lecturer in Contemporary Art Theory 

Dr Wannes Dupont, Associate Director GENDER.ED and Lecturer in the History of Sexuality 

Natasha Fricker, PhD candidate in Politics 

Dr Ebtihal Mahadeen, Lecturer in Gender and Media Studies of the Middle East

This is a free event, which means we overbook to allow for no-shows and to avoid empty seats. While we generally do not have to turn people away, this does mean we cannot guarantee everyone a place. Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis.
